Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust cleans up at national awards

Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust came top out of all the country's healthcare buildings when it won the National Health category at this year's 'Building Cleanability Awards'.

The awards recognise the increasingly important relationship between good building design - its 'cleanability' - and effective cleaning. For the past 13 years Sodexho Healthcare has provided cleaning services at Liverpool Women's Hospital which is one of the UK's leading hospitals in the provision of healthcare to women and babies.

Also recognised at the awards were the Glasgow Royal Infirmary and the Meadows in Stockport, which received 4 Star and 3 Star awards respectively. Glasgow Royal Infirmary is a large acute hospital, while The Meadows is a small residential unit accommodating those in need of specialist residential care and both are clients of Sodexho Healthcare, which nominated the three sites for their 'cleanability'.

Nominated buildings were visited by a qualified Awards assessor, who judged each one against a wide range of criteria.

Iain Anderson, managing director, Sodexho Healthcare said, "We are delighted that these three very different healthcare establishments have gained industry recognition for their high standard of cleanability. In today's climate, where cleaning standards in hospitals are very much in the spotlight, well designed buildings combined with our experience can reassure patients that they are being well looked after."

Isabelle Hutchison, relationship & development director for Sodexho and Bernard Flanagan, head of facilities, Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust, were at The Brewery in London to collect the awards on 10 July.
