For an initial period of seven years, Sodexho Defence will look after W2M's 16 catering, retail and leisure (CRL) sites along with some 72 other locations, making a considerable investment over the coming year to restyle over 50 separate catering, retail and bar facilities and employing over 750 members of Sodexho staff.
The contract incorporates three existing MACs along with new business in Stafford Garrison, the Infantry Battle School at Brecon and RAF St. Athan and is the most complex MAC contract to date.
Sodexho will provide services including retail, leisure, accommodation cleaning, specialist cleaning, window cleaning, waste management, tailoring, laundry/dry cleaning and domestic assistance to W2M's 11,500 military and civilian employees. Sodexho's CRL facilities will also be open to the wider Defence community, including Service families and MOD civil servants.
Sodexho Defence will also be taking on the catering function to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner to approximately 5,500 customers every day. Through its HUB! brand, and a further 12 shops under the Londis brand, Sodexho will introduce the MOD's Pay As You Dine (PAYD) concept, which allows Service personnel the freedom to spend their money wherever and whenever they choose as opposed to a direct food charge being recovered from their pay.
Gareth Roulston, contract director, Sodexho Defence said: "This is a major contract for Sodexho Defence which strengthens our already excellent working relationship with the MOD in both Wales and the West Midlands. The contract covers the Army's widest geographical spread and is the most complex and the most expensive MAC contract to date. The successful roll out and delivery of the W2M Super MAC is a major and welcome challenge and our team is looking forward to working with the MOD within a partnering framework to bring high street facilities 'inside the wire' in Wales and the West Midlands".
